Introducing wallpaper is a wonderful way to bring an element of texture into your bedroom scheme. Arts and Crafts in style, our Briar Rose wallpaper provides a timeless presence when paired with complementary paint colours in this bedroom scheme.

We speak to @cotty_lee to explore her latest project where she combines Briar Rose – Salix with Masquerade and Ashes of Roses

What was your vision for this project?

“I wanted to create a lighter, calmer space than the previous scheme in the main bedroom, whilst appreciating the history of interiors and reimagining an Arts and Crafts vibe into a more modern space.”

How do you go about choosing complementary paint and wallpaper?

“I create collages, I find this really helps me visualise the colour scheme before I decide.”

What do you feel wallpaper brings to a bedroom setting?

“I adore wallpaper, it totally transforms a space and adds interest and texture with ease. I was always afraid to use it, mainly because I didn't believe in my ability to be able to hang it myself.

With always doing most of the DIY on a budget, I wanted to learn the skill of wallpapering myself – I just needed the right space to try it! I’ve wallpapered in a few rooms now, and even done a couple of my friend's homes, so I have definitely gained confidence in introducing to schemes and the skill to hang it!”

Do you have any advice for someone who is new to wallpaper?

“Start with a small space, a downstairs bathroom or laundry room is a good place to start. I watched a lot of YouTube videos for hints and tips, but my main tip would be to measure as many times as you possibly can and just take your time.”

What are some of your best tips to achieve your eclectic style, combining classic and contemporary details?

“I mostly pull inspiration from talented interior designers and content creators on Pinterest and Instagram – there’s so much inspiration out there. It’s all about having the confidence to believe in your scheme. I say if you like something, go for it.

It takes time curating the right furniture and accessories to finish off the room, but this is always key. Ultimately, interior design is all about fun and allowing your personality to come through in your design.”
