About Us
A family-run business, with its own factory nestled in the foothills of Mount Snowdon in North Wales, Little Greene is the largest, family-owned independent British paint maker producing a complete range of traditional and modern finishes. Its paint line includes the signature range of hard wearing, water-based ‘Intelligent Paints’, especially designed to ensure projects are beautiful and last much longer before repainting is required.
About Us
Having gained a wide knowledge of the industry and kindled a passion for the science of colour, qualified chemist David Mottershead founded Little Greene after a career in the field of pigmented paints and coatings. Joined by his two children Ben and Ruth, David’s vision of an independent family company continues today, supported by a small and dedicated team all passionate about producing the very best quality of products using only the finest ingredients.
Our History
With records dating back to 1773, ‘The Little Greene Dye Works’ was originally a small company that supplied pigments and dyes to local weaving mills. Today, its headquarters are based very close to the original site in Manchester in England.
The fundamental principles about making Little Greene paints have not changed much since the era of The Little Greene Dye Works. The process is still undertaken by the hands of time-served craftspeople rather than automated machines, right down to their sample pots, which are filled by hand from a glass jug.
