Paint & Wallpaper Proudly Made in the UK
At Little Greene, we handcraft and make our paints and wallpapers in the UK. As a family-run company with our own factory tucked away in the foothills of Snowdonia in North Wales, we know exactly what goes into our products. Our dedicated team uses only the highest quality ingredients to produce eco-friendly paints in a beautiful palette of colours.
Our history of making paints
With records dating back to 1773, ‘The Little Greene Dye Works’ was originally a small company that supplied pigments and dyes to local weaving mills. Today, our headquarters is based very close to the original site.

Our handcrafted paints
We are the only British paint manufacturer still producing a complete range of traditional and modern finishes. The fundamental process of formulating and making paints has not changed much since the era of the Little Greene Dye Works. We still manufacture paint colours on a scale that’s small enough to measure ingredients in pounds not tons. Much of our manufacturing process is undertaken by time-served craftspeople rather than automated machines.
Natural, eco-friendly ingredients
We only use the finest organic, raw ingredients and safe synthetic pigments in our paint manufacturing. These high quality materials give our paints unrivalled coverage and superb depth of colour.
Our water-based paints are virtually odourless, with the industry’s lowest VOC content.
Local, bespoke manufacturing
As an independent paint manufacturer in the UK, we take pride in our products. Each sample pot from Little Greene has been carefully poured, picked and packaged by hand, before arriving on your doorstep. Our paints are all tinted to order, ensuring we produce as little waste as possible. When you buy paint from us, you receive a bespoke product which has been specially created for your project.

Little Greene wallpapers are manufactured using a range of traditional and modern print techniques to create beautiful, premium quality wallpapers. Our designs are printed on responsibly sourced papers using rich, non-toxic pigments.
Whether the papers are printed digitally, or surface-printed for a more traditional, painterly feel, they are always handcrafted in the UK by a team of skilled craftspeople.
Traditional surface printing
Some of the production methods used to create our printed wallpapers haven’t changed for hundreds of years. Surface printing was developed in the 1830s, allowing wallpaper to be produced on a mass scale for the first time. As wallpaper suddenly became more accessible, surface printing machines contributed to the increased popularity of wallpaper in the early 19th century. The surface printing method achieves textural detail which gives our wallpapers a beautiful painterly feel.
