Which finish should I choose?
Our much-loved Intelligent Paints use groundbreaking Intelligent Grip™ technology that will transform the way you decorate. These incredibly versatile finishes can be used to paint traditional wooden cabinets, as well as Formica®, melamine and uPVC. You can confidently apply your chosen finish directly to the surface, with no need to prime beforehand.
Our Intelligent finishes are up to 15 times tougher than ordinary household paints. Completely washable and scrubbable, they can resist the everyday stains, knocks and bumps of a busy family kitchen. This means you can experiment with sheen levels, from Intelligent Eggshell (10-15% sheen), Satin (30-35% sheen) and Gloss (87-90% sheen), depending on your desired look.
How do I choose a coordinating colour?
There are countless ways you could elevate your kitchen scheme by updating kitchen cabinetry. We’ve put together a helpful selection of recommended colour pairings for every shade in our palette.
Simply go to the product page for each colour to see related whites, neutrals and dark shades, as well as a list of complementary colours and contrasting accents. You can then select a beautiful shade for your kitchen cabinetry with the peace of mind it will pair perfectly with your existing Little Greene wall colour.
Our ‘Colour Scales’ palette is perfect for combining a family of colours that will work harmoniously together on your kitchen walls, woodwork and cabinetry. Before you go ahead and order paint, we’d always recommend ordering sample pots to test in situ alongside your current scheme, seeing how the colours appear at different times of day.
2. Prepare the surface…
As completely self-priming finishes, our Intelligent Paints can usually be applied directly to the surface of your cabinets. Only if you are painting knotty or resinous wood would we recommend first sealing the surface with an aluminium wood primer. Otherwise, you just need to complete a few simple preparation steps…
- Remove your kitchen handles and hardware to make your cabinets easier to paint, without having to do any tricky cutting in.
- Make sure to clean and de-grease the surface to get rid of residue dirt.
- After a quick wipe down, your cabinets will be ready for painting!
3. Prime and paint using a single tin!
Intelligent Grip™ technology means our Intelligent finishes combine primer and topcoat in a single tin of paint. Your chosen finish will grip securely to the surface of your cabinets, delivering a beautiful, smooth, robust and durable coating that will stand the test of time.
With our Intelligent Paints, you can transform your kitchen cabinets in just two or three coats, from a single tin of paint. This simple, sustainable decorating process is designed to save you time and minimise left-over paint.
Due to their water-based formulations, you can apply with a brush or roller with ease, and recoat after just 1-4 hours. Using Little Greene’s Intelligent Paints means decorating projects can happen alongside family life, with minimal disruption to your home as you complete your kitchen refresh!
